The Canada Science and Technology Museum Today

The Canada Science and Technology Museum is unique. As the only national comprehensive science and technology museum in Canada, it engages people of all ages with Canada’s national collection through hands-on exhibitions, programs and visitor experiences.

The Museum has a unique national mandate to inform and inspire all Canadians and international visitors about our collective science and technology heritage and to illustrate how science and technology have transformed and continue to shape Canadian society.

In addition to specialists in education, hands-on exhibitions, school and public programming and outreach, the museum staff includes professional curators and historians who specialize in the history of science and technology in Canada.

Despite its current location in an industrial park in the outskirts of Ottawa, close to 400,000 visitors from across Canada and abroad come each year to explore the collection, visit the exhibitions and experience programs that unveil the ongoing transformation of Canada.

Through partnerships with other museums and science and technology organizations, the Museum reaches out across Canada to engage over 7 million people each year with travelling exhibitions, a vibrant web site, distance education programs, EduKits, publications and other outreach programs.
